The Sulphur Comparadun is a go-to dry fly when trout are locked onto Sulphur or PMD duns during summer Ephemerella hatches. Its flared deer hair wing and hackle-free design let it sit flush in the surface film, presenting a low, realistic silhouette that educated fish on technical water simply can't ignore.
On the Frying Pan River and Roaring Fork, where PMD and Sulphur hatches can bring even the wariest trout to the surface, this pattern earns its place as a box staple. Fish it dead-drift through slow flats, tailouts, and glassy seams where rising fish are sipping duns. It also excels as the dry in a dry-dropper setup with a small Pheasant Tail, RS2, or Barr's Emerger trailing below.
