Pat’s Rubberlegs – Olive | Stonefly Nymph Pattern for Trout
Pat’s Rubberlegs in Olive is one of the most productive stonefly nymph patterns in the West — a heavy, rubber-legged attractor that gets down fast and triggers strikes from trout holding in deep runs, pocket water, and the seams of big Western rivers. The olive coloration mimics the natural tones of large stonefly nymphs common in Colorado’s freestone and tailwater rivers. Dead-drifted under an indicator, fished as the point fly in a two-nymph rig, or swung through the tail of a run, Pat’s Rubberlegs produces throughout the season on the Roaring Fork, Frying Pan, and Colorado River.
- Type: Stonefly nymph – subsurface fly pattern
- Color: Olive
- Presentation: Dead-drifted under an indicator or as point fly in a two-nymph rig
- Best Conditions: Year-round – especially effective in high water and runoff season
- Target Species: Brown trout, rainbow trout
- Best Rivers: Roaring Fork, Frying Pan, Colorado River
