A Slim, Fast-Sinking Midge Nymph Built for Technical Tailwaters
The Jiggy Silver Bullet Nymph is a tungsten bead jigged version of the classic Silver Bullet — a slim, sparse midge and Baetis nymph that has been producing fish on Colorado's technical tailwaters for decades. The silver wire body creates a subtle flash and segmented profile that closely imitates the small midges and mayfly nymphs that make up the bulk of a tailwater trout's diet. On the Frying Pan, Roaring Fork, and Colorado River, this is the kind of fly that gets eaten when everything else gets refused.
The tungsten jig bead gets this fly to depth fast, and the jig hook rides point-up through the drift for fewer snags and better hookup rates. The slim, low-profile design doesn't spook selective fish — it just looks like food. Available in four sizes from #14 to #20, this pattern covers everything from standard midge and Baetis nymph sizes down to the tiny naturals that Frying Pan trout key on in low, clear water.

How to Fish It
Euro nymph or tight-line on a short leader for maximum depth and contact. Dead-drift through seams, runs, and deep pools, maintaining direct contact throughout the drift. Fish the #14 or #16 in faster, deeper water; drop to the #18 or #20 on the Frying Pan's technical tailwater or any time trout are keyed on the smallest naturals. Pairs exceptionally well with a RS2 or Zebra Midge as a dropper in a two-fly rig.
