A Jigged Aquatic Worm That Trout Can't Ignore
The Jiggy Sexy Walt's Worm in Grey is a tungsten bead jigged version of the legendary Walt's Worm — one of the most consistently effective aquatic worm and annelid imitations in fly fishing. The "Sexy" variation adds flash and a refined profile that gives this classic pattern extra appeal in the water column. The grey colorway is a natural, subtle match for the aquatic worms and annelids that trout feed on year-round in Colorado's rivers, particularly after rain events and during high water when worms are dislodged from the banks and riverbed.
Aquatic worms are an overlooked but highly productive food source — trout eat them opportunistically throughout the season, and a well-presented worm pattern will often produce fish when nothing else is working. The tungsten jig bead gets this fly to depth fast, and the jig hook rides point-up through the drift for fewer snags and better hookup rates. Available in #14 and #18 to cover a wide range of worm sizes and water conditions on the Roaring Fork, Frying Pan, and Colorado River.

How to Fish It
Dead-drift on a tight line or under an indicator at depth through runs, pools, and along the bottom where worms concentrate. The #14 is a good all-around size; drop to the #18 in low, clear water when trout are being selective. Especially productive after rain or during runoff when natural worms are being washed into the river. Pairs well with a small nymph or midge as a dropper in a two-fly rig, or fish it as a single fly on a tight line through deep, slow pools.
