A Jigged PMD Nymph in the Classic Peaches 'n Cream Colorway
The Jiggy Peaches 'n Cream PMD TB is a tungsten bead jigged imitation of the Pale Morning Dun nymph — one of the most important mayfly hatches on Colorado's premier trout rivers. The warm peach and cream body closely matches the natural coloration of PMD nymphs in the pre-emergence stage, when trout are actively feeding subsurface in the hours leading up to a hatch. This is the fly to have on when PMDs are coming off on the Roaring Fork, Frying Pan, and Colorado River.
The tungsten jig bead gets this fly to depth quickly, and the jig hook rides point-up through the drift for fewer snags and better hookup rates. Sizes #14 and #16 cover the full range of PMD nymph sizes you'll encounter on Colorado's tailwaters and freestone rivers — match the size to what you're seeing on the water and dead-drift it through the feeding lanes where trout are staging before the hatch.
Pattern Details
- Style: Jigged tungsten bead PMD nymph
- Color: Peaches 'n Cream — warm peach/cream body matching PMD nymphs
- Sizes available: #14, #16, #18
- Bead: Tungsten jig bead — fast sink rate, rides hook point-up
- Hook: Jig hook — reduces snags, improves hookups
- Imitates Pale Morning Dun (PMD) nymphs in pre-emergence stage
- Effective on the Roaring Fork, Frying Pan, Colorado River, and most Colorado tailwaters
- Peak season: late spring through summer during PMD hatches
How to Fish It
Dead-drift on a tight line or under an indicator at depth through feeding lanes and seams where trout are staging before the hatch. The #14 covers most standard PMD nymph sizes; drop to the #16 on technical tailwater when trout are keyed on smaller naturals. Fish it in the hour or two before PMDs start emerging — trout will be actively feeding subsurface and this pattern will be right in the zone. Pairs well with a Zebra Midge or RS2 as a dropper in a two-fly rig.
