The Iron Lotus in a High-Visibility Purple Attractor Colorway
The Jiggy Iron Lotus TB in Purple takes the slim, fast-sinking profile of the Iron Lotus and adds a bold purple colorway that functions as both an attractor and a trigger — especially effective in off-color water, low-light conditions, and on stretches where trout have seen every natural imitation in the box. Purple is a proven hot-spot color in euro nymphing, and this pattern delivers it in a sleek, tungsten-loaded jig design that gets to the bottom fast.
On the Roaring Fork, Frying Pan, and Colorado River, purple nymphs consistently produce fish when more imitative patterns slow down. Whether it's the UV reflectance, the contrast against the riverbed, or simply something different in heavily pressured water, trout eat this fly. The jig hook rides point-up through the drift for fewer snags and better hookup rates — a critical advantage when fishing tight to the bottom in fast water.

How to Fish It
Euro nymph or tight-line on a short leader for maximum depth and contact. Dead-drift through seams, runs, and deep pools, maintaining direct contact throughout the drift. Fish the #14 or #16 in faster, deeper water; drop to the #18 or #20 on technical tailwater when trout are keyed on smaller naturals. Pairs well with a more imitative pattern like a Zebra Midge or RS2 as a dropper — the contrast between attractor and imitation covers more bases in a single rig.
