The Black EC Caddis is a CDC-based caddis emerger designed by Craig Mathews that imitates a caddis adult in the act of emerging — wings just breaking through the film. Its low-riding CDC wing and black body make it a deadly pattern during evening caddis hatches on the Roaring Fork, Frying Pan, and Colorado River.
