The Cripple PMD imitates a Pale Morning Dun stuck in its shuck and unable to fully emerge — a vulnerable, easy meal that selective trout target aggressively during the PMD hatch. Its low-riding, half-emerged profile is often more effective than a standard dun pattern on the flat water and tailwaters of the Frying Pan and Roaring Fork.
