The Comparadun Green Drake is one of the most exciting dry fly patterns you can fish in Colorado. When the Green Drake hatch fires on the Frying Pan River or the Roaring Fork, big trout that rarely show themselves suddenly become aggressive surface feeders — and this fly is built to match that moment perfectly.
Its flared CDC/deer hair wing and hackle-free design let it sit flush in the surface film with a low, realistic dun profile. The segmented olive and amber body, paired with extended tails, gives selective fish exactly the silhouette they're looking for during the hatch. Fish it dead-drift through slow flats, glassy tailouts, and the edges of riffles where Green Drakes congregate. It also works well as the dry in a dry-dropper rig with a Copper John or Green Drake nymph below.
