BH Crystal Bugger - Black

The BH Crystal Bugger in Black is one of the most effective subsurface streamer patterns in fly fishing — a proven producer on tailwaters and freestone rivers across Colorado's Western Slope. The bead head adds just enough weight to get the fly into the strike zone quickly, while the marabou tail pulses and breathes with every twitch of the line, imitating a wounded sculpin, leech, or juvenile baitfish with convincing movement. In black, this pattern excels in high water, off-color conditions, and low-light periods when trout are actively hunting near the bottom.

Fish the BH Crystal Bugger with a strip-and-pause retrieve, a downstream swing through deep pools, or a jigging motion along undercut banks. It's a go-to pattern on the Roaring Fork and Frying Pan throughout the season, and an excellent choice on the Colorado River through Glenwood Canyon when water temps drop and big browns move into the shallows. Tie one on when nothing else is getting attention.
