The Baetis Sparkle Dun is one of the most effective Blue-Winged Olive patterns you can fish on Colorado's technical tailwaters. When Baetis hatches are on — typically on overcast spring and fall days on the Frying Pan River, Roaring Fork, and Colorado River — trout often lock onto emergers in the film and refuse fully-formed duns. This is the fly that cracks the code.

By combining a trailing Z-lon/Antron shuck with a Comparadun-style flared deer hair wing, the Baetis Sparkle Dun imitates a BWO dun in the act of emerging from its nymphal shuck — trapped in the surface film and completely helpless. Its dark olive body and realistic profile trigger strikes from the most selective fish on pressured water. Fish it dead-drift through slow seams, flat tailouts, and glassy runs during BWO emergences.
