Autumn Splendor – Streamer Fly Fishing Fly

The Autumn Splendor is a baitfish-imitating streamer fly tied to capitalize on one of the best times of year to chase big trout in Colorado — the fall season. As water temperatures cool and brown trout begin their pre-spawn movement, large fish actively hunt baitfish in the shallows and along current seams. The Autumn Splendor's warm, earthy color palette mirrors the natural tones of the season and the forage fish that trout are focused on during this period, making it a highly effective pattern from September through November on the Roaring Fork, Frying Pan, and Colorado River.

Fish it with a swing-and-strip retrieve through the heads of pools, work it along undercut banks, or dead-drift it through deep, slow runs where big browns are staging. The Autumn Splendor produces consistently throughout the season but truly shines when autumn flows drop and clear, and the largest fish of the year become more active and visible. A must-have streamer for any Western Slope fall fishing box.
