Lower Roaring Fork — Voluntary Closure in Effect
The lower Roaring Fork from Carbondale down to the confluence in Glenwood Springs is currently under a half-day voluntary fishing closure. With closures on surrounding rivers pushing additional pressure onto the Fork, we're choosing to step away from the lower sections and respect the resource.
Upper Roaring Fork — Fishing Extremely Well
The good news: the upper Roaring Fork above Basalt has been fishing exceptionally well. Cooler water temperatures and lighter pressure are creating great opportunities for anglers willing to make the drive.
Top fly patterns right now:
- Chubby Chernobyls — surface action has been strong
- Prince Nymphs — reliable producer in the riffles
- RS2s — excellent midge/emerger option in slower water
