Upper Roaring Fork River Fishing Report — September 4, 2026

The Upper Roaring Fork has been fishing okay, but low flows are making presentation especially important. This is a great time to slow things down and focus on getting your flies into the right water.  The key is whether you are willing to walk.  Put in some leg work and you will find plenty of great spots which will reward you.

A hopper-dropper setup remains a go-to approach, but anglers should consider using longer leaders, smaller bugs, and longer casts. The lower flows mean trout can be more cautious, so a stealthy presentation can make a big difference.

Take your time, cover water carefully, and focus on natural presentations in the clearer, lower-flow conditions.
