Lower Colorado River Fishing Report — August 22, 2026

The Lower Colorado remains closed to fishing — water temperatures are still too warm to fish safely, and we're asking anglers to stay off the river until conditions improve.

That said, things are moving in the right direction. Overnight temps have been dropping and we're seeing that reflected in the water. Conditions are trending the right way, and that could change quickly — so stay alert. We'll be watching closely and will update you here as soon as we're ready to give the green light.

We appreciate everyone's patience and cooperation in giving the river a break. Protecting the fishery now means better fishing for everyone down the road.

In the meantime, the Fryingpan and Upper Roaring Fork are your best bets for getting on fish right now.

Stop by Glenwood Springs Outdoors at 831 Grand Ave, Glenwood Springs and we'll give you the latest on conditions and point you toward the best water.
