Lower Colorado River Fishing Report — August 8, 2026

The Lower Colorado River remains off limits for now as water temperatures continue to be a concern.

We’ve started to see some improvement with a stretch of colder nights, and temperatures have been trending down a little, but the river is still too warm for us to recommend getting back out there.

We’re keeping a close eye on the forecast because conditions can change quickly this time of year. If the colder weather continues and water temperatures come down enough, we could potentially see fishing opportunities return to the lower river.

For now, the best thing we can do is give the river a break and wait for conditions to improve.

With the Fryingpan also expected to see a major increase in flows, we’re especially interested to see how that additional cold water affects the Roaring Fork and eventually the lower Colorado system.

We’ll keep monitoring temperatures and conditions and let you know when things change.
