Please Stay Off the Colorado River

The Colorado River is experiencing extremely warm water temperatures, climbing into the upper 60s and low 70s°F. At these temperatures, trout are severely stressed and catching and releasing fish can lead to unnecessary mortality. We are asking anglers to please stay off the Colorado River until conditions improve.

At Glenwood Springs Outdoors, we've made the decision to stay off the Colorado River ourselves until conditions improve. While it's disappointing to put away one of our favorite fisheries, protecting the resource has to come first. Healthy rivers today mean better fishing tomorrow — and we appreciate every angler who does their part.

Better Options Right Now

Fortunately, there are excellent alternatives throughout the Roaring Fork Valley where cooler water is keeping trout healthy and active:

• Fryingpan River — Green Drakes are showing and dry fly fishing has been outstanding.
• Upper Roaring Fork (Basalt to Aspen) — Healthy flows, cool temps, and hopper-dropper rigs producing all day.
